My America, where has she gone
My heart has been ripped apart
My ambition has been ripped from my hands
My dreams have been poisoned
My America where has she gone?
My America, was she ever here?
My America is not your America
My youth was filled with dreams of success
My bank would be filled to the rim
My hand would reach out to others
My America, where has she gone?
My friends they disappeared,
as the light of Corporate America loomed with gloom
My heart sank with reality
Where was the space for me to shine?
My brain said let me out, my brain said feed me!
My America, where has she gone?
The story is still unfinished
Floyd has spoken from his grave
Let me rise as Jesus once did
My America, where has she gone?
Floyd in his passing said, let me return America to all who heard me scream in the agony and pain of my death, give America to all!
My America, where has she gone?
I see her in my dreams
I see her in my heart
I see her in my tears
My America, where has she gone?
